GOD HAS EARNED YOUR TRUST

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding
Proverbs 3:5
Trust is a very sensitive issue and vital in building a healthy relationship with friends, family, colleagues, and spouses. Any relationship not built on trust, will end up a mess. Further, more,
we lose the love and company of those closest to us when we break their trust. Trust means to have faith in someone. It means to come to a level where you can vouch for what they can and cannot do. It means to be sure that someone will tell the truth no matter what.

However, some people have earnedE our trust and we have no reason doubting or punishing them simply because someone else broke our trust. We all have wrongly trusted people who did not deserve to be trusted, or someone who ended up taking us for a ride. No one will blame you if you decided never to trust again because, the people you trusted always disappointed and cursed you pain. However, you will be doing yourself a great disservice, by not giving yourself another chance of finding a trust worthy friendship or relationship.

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed-Lamentations 3:22

Today, I would like us to look at trust in God. The Greek word for faith is ‘pistis’ which means to trust or believe. It also means, confidence, moral convictions in someone and reliability in the integrity of that person to do what they say. When we say that we trust God, it means that we wait patiently for His promises to happen in our lives because we believe His word. Many Christians experience difficulty or unwillingness to trust God for many different reasons.

YOUR DEPTH IN GOD DETERMINES AND ENHANCES YOUR FAITH IN HIM

Have you ever offended God or made a mistake that you felt could destroy your life, and you woke up the next morning surprised that you were still alive and in good state? Do you ever wonder how it was possible for you to go through school and graduate from university, despite losing your parent as a toddler and having no relative care for you? Do you think of that time when you thought you would die from a serious accident or severe sickness, but you survived?

...While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us-Romans 5:8

What about that time when you had nothing to eat and someone suddenly showed up and gave you food or money? In addition, the time when you thought that you were going to be infected with HIV/AIDS because you messed up yourself with different men, but you did not. I remember the story of Abraham-how that God still gave him the promise of a child in Isaac, despite the fact that he took an alternative root by fathering a child called Ishmael.

God has done countless number of things for us that should make us trust Him. If you ever find yourself doubting God just because you found yourself in a difficult or challenging situation, remember that God has done so much to earn your total trust.
